Building & Construction Permits
The Building Department ensures compliance with the Florida Building Code in a cooperative effort between residents, professional tradesmen, and trained department staff.
Commercial Permitting
Commercial projects follow the county’s two-step process: Development Permit from Planning first, then building permits. Reviews may legally take up to 30 days per department, plan for up to 60 days, though most reviews finish sooner. Revisions restart the 30-day clock.

Submitting
- Applications must be complete when submitted, incomplete applications will not be processed.
- Permit applications will not be accepted by email.
- Pay online, by cash or check, payable to Jefferson Co. B.O.C.C.
Inspections
Call (850) 342-0223 to request an inspection. Inspections are not scheduled same-day, and none are scheduled on Fridays.
