Ordinances & Code of Ordinances

Jefferson County’s local laws, land development regulations, and the process for proposed ordinances.

Code of Ordinances

Jefferson County’s Code of Ordinances is published and searchable online through Municode: library.municode.com/fl/jefferson_county.

Land Development Regulations

All current and new property owners should be aware that Land Development Regulations apply to all types of development: including subdivisions of property and the construction of buildings of any type, as well as improvements such as driveways and power poles.

  • All subdivisions of land require approval in accordance with the Land Development Code. Verify approval with the Planning Department before recording new deeds at the Clerk of Court.
  • If property ownership is conveyed without approval, future owners may not be able to obtain a building permit.
  • Building and other permits will not be issued for any site without a Development Permit from the Planning Department.

Proposed Ordinances & Business Impact Estimates

Business impact estimates for proposed ordinances are published in advance of adoption, as required by Florida law. Current notices are posted on the News & Alerts page.

Sunshine & Public Participation
