Government
Jefferson County is governed by a five-member Board of County Commissioners, with one commissioner elected from each of the county’s five districts to a four-year term.
The Board meets in the Courthouse Annex, 435 West Walnut Street, Monticello at 9:00 a.m. on the first Thursday and 6:00 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month, unless otherwise scheduled.
If you require accommodations to participate in a public meeting, please complete and return the ADA Accommodation Request Form (online or printable).
Per Section 286.0105, Florida Statutes: if a person decides to appeal any decision made by the Board with respect to any matter considered at a meeting or hearing, they will need a record of the proceedings and may need to ensure a verbatim record is made, including the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based.
