Understand how your property is valued, what exemptions you may qualify for, and how to pay.
The Property Appraiser determines the assessed value of all property in Jefferson County and administers exemptions, including the homestead exemption. Search parcels and file for exemptions at jeffersonpa.net.
The Tax Collector collects property taxes each year. Tax bills are mailed in November, with discounts for early payment. Pay online, by mail, or in person, see Pay Property Taxes.
Each August, the Property Appraiser mails a TRIM (Truth in Millage) notice showing your property’s value and proposed tax rates from each taxing authority, the county, school board, water management district, and others. Public hearings noted on the TRIM notice are your opportunity to comment before rates are adopted in September.
See Planning, Zoning & Land Use for development rules, or check FEMA flood maps at msc.fema.gov. Jefferson County participates in the National Flood Insurance Program with a Community Rating System score of 8, which earns discounts on flood insurance premiums.
